Email communication between doctors and patients is complicated by necessary security measures.  Therefore, I request that all email communication be encrypted.  I would like my patients to use a product called Axcrypt for this purpose.  You may download this software for free at http://www.axantum.com/AxCrypt/

 

Once you have downloaded the Axcrypt software, type your message in any word processing software (Word, Wordperfect, or even Notepad).  Then encrypt your document using Axcrypt.  Please call my office to inform me of the password.  Then email the encrypted file (you may also encrypt any additional files you like - eg, spreadsheet of your home glucose monitoring results) to me at DocThaler@gmail.com.  If your email is not encrypted, it will be deleted immediately and a reply will not be sent.

 

Please note that your email address will not be given to anyone, and your information will not be shared with anyone outside of my medical office.

 

Also note that there may be a charge for email communications.  Some insurance companies are now paying for email/online consultation, and if your insurance company does so, we will submit the charge to them (if we are providers).  If not, there will be a charge of $30.

 

This service is only intended for established patients of my office.  Replies will only be sent to existing patients.
